Chilli peppers are good plants for growing in the city. They can be small windowsill plants indoors or potted plants on balconies or in the garden. They grow well in pots. The plants provide daily chilli’s over the summer months and a harvest at the end of the season. The fruits are used to experiment in chilli based cooking and for making sauces and jams at the end of the season.
The weather this summer was different from 2018. Last summer was a long dry spell at the right growing time for chilli’s so the harvest was good. This year, with heavy rains and sudden heatwaves at the wrong times, the harvest was down. It will be worth considering some form of weather protection for next year. Still, a good harvest was dried for later processing.
